Norman Nicholls in from of the shop opened by his father, Issac in 1934. Business closed on Norman's retirement in 1985. Issac ran a business at no. 43 from 1924.
He joined the newspaper team about 1984. Died 11 Nov 2004.

The wooden viaduct was washed away fir the second time in 1868. Locomotive AMIAS No 3276 introduced in 1898.
