Sarah Elizabeth Stych Padstow Lifeboat on the rocks at Godrevy Point

The lifeboat from St Ives (on loan from Padstow) attempted to rescue the crew of the SS Wilton but was grounded at Godrevy Point. There was only one survivor, William Freeman of the lifeboat. Altogether 36 lives were lost.
