Title

A group of men onlookers, re: the Sarah Elizabeth Stych Lifeboat aground at Godrevy Point

Description

In 1939, the John and Sarah Eliza Stych lifeboat from St Ives (on loan from Padstow) launched with an 8-man crew, in a violent gale, to the aid of an unknown vessel (the SS Wilton). During the storm the lifeboat capsized and self-righted three times, but sadly seven of the eight crew died. When the storm subsided the remains of the SS Wilton was found washed up on the shore with no survivors from the 30-man crew.
