Elizabeth Arden, who was born Florence Nightingale Graham, and founded the world famous cosmetic company. There are some who claim she was born in Hayle; however, there is no evidence to support this. It is generally believed she was born in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada. Her mother, Susan, however, was Cornish.
