Description

Copy of a postcard designed by A.E. Philip around the turn of the century. They were printed by various card manufacturers. This particular cars is Frith's No 6370B and was posted at Newquay in 1913.

The message written on the postcard includes the following: "I left my flannel belt under the pillow, please forward it to me with love"!

On the front of the postcard are drawings of a cottage and a homely interior. There is also a poem titled 'Welcome to Cornwall', which is written in Cornish dialect and reads as follows:

Be you Cornish or stranyer
Don't matter 'tall to we;
For one an' all what come 'ere
We'me always glad to see.
And tho' our homestead's 'umble,
Yet warm hearts herein dwell;
There'll be no cause to grumble,
We'll surely, treat ee well.

We may not be quite stylish,
Nor up-to-date you knaw;
But what we ate is Cornish,
Made with substantial daugh.
For pasties, pelchrds, crame and all,
There's plenty to be 'ad;
So thoughts of dear old Cornwall
Should always make ee glad.
