            Description
Pictured is the south side of the East Pool winding machine. Adjoining the A30 trunk road from London to Land's End, this engine, still a prominent local landmark, is under the care of the National Trust and Trevithick Society and open to visitors at certain times of the year.
The last of its kind to be built by Holman Brothers of Camborne in 1887, it has a cylinder diameter of 30-inches with a 9-foot stroke, and operates at 17 revolutions per minute, transporting men and materials from a depth of 1,490 feet.
