Description

Map of the world by Herman Moll (c. 1654-1732),
one of the most important London mapmakers in the first half of the eighteenth century.
The earth is split into 2 hemispheres and illustrates the known world. Coastlines of the southern hemisphere are missing, Australia is referred to as New Holland and the Pacific Ocean as the Great South Sea.
The slide is labelled "World 1742, Plymouth Institution 453"
