Description

Pednandrea Mine Redruth was active in early 18th C until 1891.
Dicky Vine fell down the mine stack and broke his little finger. His coat opened as a type of parachute and broke his fall, a narrow escape.
This note was written on rear of photograph.

Creator

James Chenhall. Born in Redruth in 1845. His first appearance was in 1866 as photographic assistant in Bullers Row Redruth.
A few years later moved to 11 West End and continued until 1910. Married in 1860s and in 1880s opened a business in Helston. Not a particularly prominent photographer, virtually all of his work is portraits, early work is hard to locate.
