First known photos date from 1860. In 1865 he recorded the visit by Albert Edward and Alexandra ( Prince and Princess of Wales. Produced many carte views, souvenirs and portraits. Became Mayor in 1887-1888. During this time he bought Morrab House which is now the Morrab Library for £3120. He retains an unchallengeable position as the premier cameraman of Victorian Cornwall.
