Description
SS Datetree was a brand new British steam collier/cargo ship owned by the Tree Steamship Company. It was only three months old, having been built in early 1914 by the Antwerp Engineering Company.
On June 25, 1914, while carrying a cargo of coal from Barry, Wales, to Brest, France, the vessel ran aground on the treacherous Brisons Rocks.
