White Star liner Suevic (12,531 t), on passage from Melbourne to Southampton, stranded in fog on Clidgas Rock, part of the Maenheere Reef SE of the Lizard, 17 March 1907. All 524 passengers and crew were rescued by local lifeboats, and the after part of the ship, with engines still in working order, was successfully towed to Southampton and fitted with a new forward section.
