At 9.00 am on Tuesday 26th April 1960, from the steps of St John’s Hall, Mr Peak, Mayor of Penzance, assisted by Wendy Lewis, marathon walker, sets off five members of the sixth form at the Penzance Boys’ Grammar School on their “Sink Push” around Cornwall raising funds for World Refugee Year.
