Mary Louisa Browne was born in 1858 in Rangoon, Bengal, India to Horace Albert Browne and Louisa Fanny Algeo Moresby.
She married William Jordan Cummings in Rangoon in 1877. He was a Col. in the Royal Engineers and died in 1908.

Lucinda Constance Ellen Browne, Caldwells 1st maternal cousin, was the eldest daughter of Edgar Athelstane Browne and Alice Dominica Browne. She was born in Liverpool in 1868.
Lucinda died in 1885, aged 17.
