Archibald Durrant Quilter (1899 - 1986) was the manager of the Ritz for over 25 years during the heyday of the cinema. Throughout that time the cinema changed from a successful and bustling venue, before being taken over by Mecca Ltd. After Mr Quilter retired in 1964 it became a bingo hall.
