Title
Fish workers on the beach standing by the end of Newlyn's Old (Medieval) Pier.
Description
This picture is before the North and South Piers were built in Newlyn Harbout.
The tide would go out much further than this shows. Fishing vessels have to anchor off in the Gwavas Lake. Catches have to be carried ashore in small punts - as seen. Some visiting Plymouth vessels appear in the picture, including one steam vessel.
