Relief of Longships long overdue owing to stormy seas however the real emergency was the sick Keeper Griffiths stranded on Lighthouse

A keeper on Longship was sick and needed to be relieved but rough seas were hampering the rescue.

Originally only two men manned Lighthouse, so if one died the other was alone on the rock. Since then four men have been employed in the Service, three on the Lighthouse, one on shore
