Standing stone with Roman inscription visible, in Breage church.
Grid reference, SW 6185 2845
This is a Roman milestone, discovered in the early 1920's by the then vicar, who found it being used as a gatepost. The inscription reads, "For the Emperor Caesar, our Lord, Marcus Cassianius (Latinos Postumus ...". This dates the stone to CE258 to CE268.
