Description

Cornish engine, built 1847-1849 for draining the meer at Haarlem in Holland. Built jointly at the Harvey foundry at Hayle and the Perran foundry near Truro. It worked until 1933 and is now preserved as an international monument. Cylinder is 12ft. in diameter.
