Description

A 'Tintype' is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal (iron, tin was not actually used) coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. popular in the 1860's and 70's in America.
This image was later hand painted . (Also see H.139 and H.140)
