Title

Classic photo of a large procession of townsfolk along Newlyn's new harbour road during a gala day

Description

The new harbour road was built in 1908. It joined Newlyn Town and Street-an-Nowan, previously only subject to access at low water. The photo shows Newlyn Town before 'The Clearances' and building of Gwavas Estate and the new cliff walls. It is thought that these people are from 'Uplong', Newlyn Town. The big house at the top right is Penzer House.
