The Runions were among the best known photographers in New York. At least 5 brothers ran the family business which started in 1880's based on the family farm. In 1887 moved to Canton NY. In 1889built a 2 story building in Park Street."Runions Block" At one time 3 brothers ran 43 studios in 4 counties. Charles was born in 1867, also had his own farm and his wife inherited one. On 22nd July 1923 Charles using a rifle shot and killed his 19yr old farmhand Malcolm Follette. Charles then shot himself due to pressure of the business and jealousy between his wife and M Follette.
