Description
The Russian stemaer, Aksai, was lost around White Island on November 2nd 1875. She was on passage from Cardiff to Odessa with coal.
Fog blurred the outline of the Scillies, with Captain Boltine taking her along the north side of St Martins, only to strike White Island and remain fast. It was the Lady of the Isles which rescued her captain and crew of thirty nine, leaving the steamer to go pieces where she lay.
