Start of the Coombe above the later road bridge. River not contained yet. The visiting fairground and showmen would pitch on this open space. Piles of fish can be seen. St Peters Church (built 1866) is 150yds to the right of the picture.
Located on the Chacewater to Newquay branch. With wooden platforms and a small "pagoda" shelter, it was typical of the G.W.R.s small stations and halts of the era.
