The grounds of Polwithen house when it was known as The Riviera Palace Hotel between 1902-1917.
Polwithen House was built for the banker William Bolitho about 1870. It was sold in 1902 to become the hotel.
In 1918 the Penzance Church of England High School for girls took over the premises.
