Nothing more was heard from her, other than a weak distress signal prefixed by the call sign "Dieppe 1517". At 5.45 am on the 14th the Coastguard received a telephone call from Porthcurno, to say a local man, out looking for driftwood on Porth Chapel beach, had come across a trawler with DP1517 on her bow. There were no survivors. The captain and most of the 17 crew were found drowned, these were taken back to France in another French trawler. The wreck was later blown apart by explosives in an attempt to break the ship up for scrapping. However, some speculate that the charges were inexpertly placed or too powerful.
