Identifier An unambiguous reference to the resource within a given context JDC 445 Description An account of the resource Photo shows the Stevenson family re-enacting the landing of the pretender, Perkin Warbeck, which took place at Whitesand Bay near Sennen in September 1497. Perkin Warbeck was a pretender to the English throne. Warbeck claimed to be Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York, who was the second son of Edward IV and one of the so-called "Princes in the Tower". Warbeck landed from Cork, Ireland, with a force of men proclaiming himself to be Richard IV. He had little support, fled and was subsequently captured and imprisoned. He died by hanging in November 1499. Caption on back of photo identifies the participants as the Stevenson family, with Sara Ann in the bow of the boat and William in the stern.
