Henry Browne 1800-1883 Description An account of the resource Henry Albert Browne, Caldwell Harpur's maternal grandfather, was born in 1800 in Torquay, Devon to William Loder Browne and Katherine Hunter. His interests were religion and classical languages and studied at Oxford in the 1820's. He later became rector at Toft in Lincolnshire, where he spent the rest of his life. He married three times, first to Frances Margaret Nicholson on 1st June 1830, and they had six children together. She died in 1838. He later married Eliza Ann Blake on 22nd Feb. 1845. She died in 1866. In 1870, when he was 70, he married Sarah Alice Casson. He died on 2nd. oct. 1883 at Caistor, Lincolnshire. Eliza Blake's photo is missing from the collection. He entered the British Army in India and obtained his first commission on 13th June 1852. He married Louisa Fanny Algeo Moresby on 25th April 1857, in Calcutta, Bengal, India. Horace was Commissioner of Pegu, Burma from 1878 to 1880. His wife died on 24th July 1880. He married Marie Renault in 1884, and when he died on 25th Jan 1914 they were living in Nice, France.
