Louisa was born in 1813, in Wraley, Lincolnshire, to John and Sussanah Nicholson. She married William Jordan Cummings in Rangoon in 1877. He was a Col. in the Royal Engineers and died in 1908. They had one daughter. In 1909 Mary married Thomas Hope, who died in 1925. Mary died in 1943 aged 85.
