Strand area at Street-an-Nowan, Newlyn, 1895-1900
Newlyn fishwives and their wicker baskets, called Cowals, congregate near the entrance to the North Pier near the Newlyn Post Office (then the Coastguard building also now at the back of the Newlyn harbour offices).

The Strand, Street-an-Nowan, Newlyn, 1945-1950
Area is the Strand, Street-an-Nowan, showing a weigh bridge far left bottom, now discontinued. Buildings left to right are part of Chigwins Grocery Shop (now the Chinese takeaway), then The Swordfish Inn (previously the Union), then the Newlyn Co-op (built 1935, still there). The large building on the right was Newlyn Post Office (*), was originally the Coastguard building.
* Now houses the Newlyn Photo archive.

The Strand, Street-an-Nowan, Newlyn, 1910-1915
End of the railings is where the Mousehole bus from Penzance stops. All white buildings in the centre are gone. Now this is Newlyn car park, not to be confused with the other car park at St Peter's Hill, Newlyn Town. Note: the road looks as if there may be some surface flooding; difficult to say for sure. The Coombe-an-Strand area has suffered severe flooding from the river at times. One of the worst floods was in 1894.
