This dish is 90-feet across and is 'locked' onto a satellite 23,000 miles over the Atlantic Ocean. The surface of the dish is polished aluminium. The faint signals are reflected onto the centre of the tripod can be seen built onto the dish.

This diagram shows a sectioned specimen of deep-sea, light-weight coaxial cable of the kind likely to be used by Cable & Wireless Ltd. and the Canadian Overseas Telecommunication Corporation in the Anglo-Canadian Telephone Cable in 1961.
The same type of cable is likely to be used in the extension of the Anglo-Canadian cable to form the round-the-world Anglo-Canadian Commonwealth Telephone Cable.

The Hong Kong/Guam section of SEACOM was laid during September and October of 1965. Assisted by Cable & Wireless, Ltd., repair ship Cable Enterprise Mercury completed the lay into Guam on 22 October 1965.

C & W Stanley Angwin Surveying Cable Route

During April 1965, C.S. Stanley Angwin (2,500-ton gross) surveyed the route for the Tortola-Bermuda telephone cable which will provide the northern outlet for the 21-million W.I. dollar project in the Eastern Caribbean to improve inter-island and international telecommunications.
This photograph shows the camera station with Chief Engineer R. Wanless helping Assistant Deck Engine Driver C. St. Omer with the controls, while Cable Technician P.H. Pearce relays orders from the precision depth recorder.

General view of Poldhu Wireless Station. These 300-foot timber masts dominated the Lizard Peninsula for half a century and could be seen from Land's End to the Camborne-Redruth area. They were dismantled in the late 1930s as a security measure and because their use had been superseded by more modern technology.
View from Porthcurno of Marconi Signal Station at Poldhu Transmitter on the Lizard Peninsula, from where Eastern Telegraph Co conducted industrial espionage.
