Copy of a postcard designed by A.E. Philip around the turn of the century. They were printed by various card manufacturers. This particular cars is Frith's No 6370B and was posted at Newquay in 1913.
The message written on the postcard includes the following: "I left my flannel belt under the pillow, please forward it to me with love"!
On the front of the postcard are drawings of a cottage and a homely interior. There is also a poem titled 'Welcome to Cornwall', which is written in Cornish dialect and reads as follows:
Be you Cornish or stranyer
Don't matter 'tall to we;
For one an' all what come 'ere
We'me always glad to see.
And tho' our homestead's 'umble,
Yet warm hearts herein dwell;
There'll be no cause to grumble,
We'll surely, treat ee well.
We may not be quite stylish,
Nor up-to-date you knaw;
But what we ate is Cornish,
Made with substantial daugh.
For pasties, pelchrds, crame and all,
There's plenty to be 'ad;
So thoughts of dear old Cornwall
Should always make ee glad.

Penzance Lifebuoy Series. Inset shows Fountain in Morrab Gardens.
This type of card with its many variations was the forerunner of the more usual traditional 'comic' seaside card. It was produced and sold at most seaside resorts during the first decade of the 20th century with appropriate adjustments made to suit the resort concerned.
This one reads: 'Penzance agrees with me splendidly. The people here vie one with the other in giving visitors a real good time."

Description
An account of the resource
A photographic postcard depicting a man eating limpets with the caption, "Eat limpets and live. Everything all kiff with Cousin Jack". "All Kiff" was a common term used by miners when writing home from abroad. It is thought to have been a distorted interpretation of "OK" which, even in this far-off days, the Americans frequently used. This card, one of the 'Real Photograph Series' produced by E.A. Bragg & Co. of Illogan, Redruth, from about 1900 is an excellent example of many fine 'action' photographs produced by the expert photographic artists with the limited equipment available to them at the time.
