Gavioli Fairground Organ 1875
Fair Organ
Anno
Thought to be one of Britain's oldest fairground organs, later owned by Redruth Gladiator Club. Made in the Paris Workshop established by Ludovic Gavioli, reputedly "the greatest of all" organ builders. Gavioli introduced the Book System of perforated pages to operate the pipes resulting in better reproduction of music.
Fairground architecture reached a peak with the introduction of these organs and their accompanying road locomotives towards the end of the 19th century and continued its colourful Victorian flamboyance until the late 1930s.
This organ was later owned by the Redruth "Gladiator" Club.
