St Michaels Mount Marazion
Description
An account of the resource
Richards Photograph. Penzance. St Michael's Mount is a historic tidal castle which dominates Mount's Bay. It is thought to have been part of the mainland and thus named as the Breton counterpart Mont St Michel. Dating from earliest history, events there have been well-chronicled since the 11th century. The first Baron Lord St Levan was created in 1887. The third Baron St Levan gave the property to the National Trust in 1954, but the family still occupy the castle living accommodation which is open to then public on certain days. The harbour and small village at the foot of the castle are always open to the public.
